Yin Yoga
This a very still style of yoga, used to balance our more active, yang yoga practice. It calms mind and body, whilst helping to relieve tension and reduce stress and anxiety. Targeting connective tissues; fascia, joints and bones, used to improve flexibility and mobility. Other benefits include balancing internal organs, increasing circulation and improving the flow of chi in our energy channels. Open to students of all levels. You can expect a very slow class with long holds, giving yourself the chance to slow down and be mindful.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga helps you to obtain a deep level of relaxation. Relying heavily on the use of props, you can expect prolonged holding of just a few simple poses. It triggers the Parasympathetic Nervous System from the very first pose. The overall calming effect on the nervous system is very healing and recuperative for your mind and body at a cellular level; boosting the immune system and providing relief for stress and anxiety. It is an extremely mindful style of yoga due to the expanded awareness of self…you get a genuine sense of floating away! Open to students of all levels.
Supported Yoga
This class provides full support and very gentle movement, specific to the needs of teach student. It is aimed at every and any ‘Body’ dealing with all dis-ease, disabilities and restrictions. It is a class is designed to improve posture, mobility and strength through gentle “somatic”movement, to ease pain and discomfort. We find postures using the help of bolsters, blocks, straps, chairs and blankets to make your yoga practice more accessible. A perfect example that proves yoga really is for everybody!
Yoga Nidra
Translated as “Yogic sleep”, this is a form of guided meditation, used to still the waves of the mind through a conscious sleep state. As we delve into layers and chambers of mind, we simultaneously enter a state of deep relaxation and consciousness. We are shifting our brain into the process of “powering down,” or coming into a rest state with slower, restorative brain-wave activity. As well as relaxation for mind and body - Yoga Nidra is known to improve sleep, give mental clarity also provide relief for depression and anxiety. Open to students of all levels.
Pre & Post Natal Yoga
Prenatal Yoga is an excellent way to prepare your body for all of the changes it goes through during pregnancy, childbirth, and Mothering. Classes will include gentle stretching and suitable and safe postures, often using props. We will build strength and stamina, as well as concentration and deep breathing; all invaluable tools during labour and birth. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your baby and other mums-to-be, but also to celebrate your changing body! It will help alleviate some of the physical discomforts of pregnancy, reduce stress levels and improve sleep patterns. This class is open to women in all stages of pregnancy. No prior knowledge of yoga is needed.
Postnatal yoga addresses the physical, mental, and emotional challenges to help ease the transition from pregnancy and birth, this next stage of being a new mother. It includes gentle stretches to restore and nurture the fatigued body, relieve lower back, neck and shoulders from holding & feeding baby, strengthen and tighten weakened pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. As well as incorporating bonding techniques such as baby massage and poses that parent and child can do together or that mom can do while breastfeeding. All the while helping to calm the nervous system and boost the immune system. Recommended for mums from 8-12 weeks post-partum onwards, depending on birth and recovery.
