different styles i offer:
Vinyasa yoga
The term vinyasa means “to place with intention” and is a style of yoga which focuses on aligning movement with the breath. These classes will be more creative and involve a flowing sequence of poses. I will often focus the class around a peak pose, a particular theme or aspect of the yoga philosophy. You can expect a more physically dynamic class with strength building flows; as well as slower flows with a greater emphasis on mobility and flexibility. Open to students of all levels.
hAtha yoga
Hatha primarily means “force” or “effort” - which is a term associated with the physical aspect of yoga. In these classes you can expect a much slower pace with longer holds, developing a deep balance of strength and flexibility as well as effort and surrender. You will learn techniques including Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathwork) and Meditation to achieve control and mastery of the body, mind and spirit. Open to students of all levels.
ashtanga vinyasa
The Sanskrit word Ashtanga translates as “Eight-limbs”, which refers to the Eight-Limbs of Yoga as outlined by Patanjali in the ancient Yoga Sutras. Ashtanga Vinyasa is a traditional practice and a more dynamic style of yoga. The “Primary Series” is a set sequence, which students learn under the personalised guidance of a teacher, eventually leading to a traditional Mysore style and self-practice. We practice with a tri-focus “tristana” - using breath, bandha and drsti to go deeper within and access the last 4 limbs. Previous experience is beneficial when taking this class.
